Formed in 1989 the senior instructors collectively have over 120 years’ experience in teaching and training. Today the UKA operates with a focus on family values and is open to all members of the community.
Aikido, a Japanese martial art based on self defence and self improvement, is a sound way to develop a personal level of fitness and is an enjoyable pastime which can fit in with work, social and family life.

Summer School is the most important week in the UKA’s course calendar: first and foremost, we are fortunate to have a guest instructor from Hombu Dojo. As the UKA strives to promote the highest standard of aikido possible, I encourage all students to attend Summer School to see first hand the direction that we are seeking to follow.
Whilst Summer School gives an opportunity for intense study and training, it also allows us to spend time with old aikido friends as well as making new ones.
